The wide adoption of lifelogging seemed inevitable, at least based on the number of products and interest surrounding it, but it never really took off in the way lifelogging evangelists said it would. Google returned to the lifelogging well in 2017 with the Clips wearable camera, which aimed to bypass the privacy problems that plagued Google Glass by only capturing short GIF-style clips, not recording audio, and not uploading anything to the internet automatically. The concept of a personal digital repository for lifelogged data isn’t new. The project, run by lifelogging luminaries Gordon Bell and Jim Gemmell, is a glimpse of what lifelogging could have been.

Launched in 2018, Google Pay merged two other popular payment apps, Android Pay and Google Wallet, bringing the functionality of both apps into one handy new app that allowed you to pay for stuff as well as make peer-to-peer payments. On April 5, the old Google Pay app ceased functioning for users in the U.S. and has been replaced by the new app. If you decide to open one of these accounts, your account will still be owned and managed by your bank, but you’ll use the Google Pay app as your main way of managing your account and making payments. Your Google Pay app won’t be updated automatically, so you’ll need to download the new Google Pay app for free from the Google Play store and sign in.

You can pick a new Sideline phone number and port numbers from a burner number, Google number, Smartline, Line2, or other services. You can also send and receive unlimited calls, texts, photos, and GIFs to and from any U.S. phone number and to any international Flyp phone number. You can call, text, and manage contacts from within the app and treat it as a long-term second phone number for business or projects or create a disposable phone number for dating, sales, deliveries, shopping, or selling items on Craigslist. You can choose a local phone number with unlimited text and picture messaging, unlimited phone calling, and cheap international calling.

This category is far from clear-cut, but comparing similarly priced Android phones with iPhones, you can find a phone with a larger battery if that’s important to you, and they tend to have fast chargers included in the box (for the moment), so Android gets the win. Our Android stats come from Android Studio and don’t seem to be updated as often as Apple’s iOS distribution numbers. Android tends to lag in the update world — that is, unless you have a stock Android device like a Pixel or a phone running Android One. Numerically speaking, Android wins 10 categories and iOS wins seven, but iOS wins in some of the more important categories — we don’t think rooting or alternative app stores are as important for most people as accessibility or security, for example.
